Dan praised Coaches Al Carstens and Don Olson by saying, "Both of these coaches have really helped me. I owe much of my present ability to them."
Among his awards, Dan made the 1971 All‑Conference baseball team, has been in M‑Club for two years, and was captain of the wrestling and baseball teams in his sophomore year. Dan plans on attending Harper Junior College for his first two years.
Soccer and golf were two of the sports that Gary Navratil '71 excelled in this past year. He took over as goalie for the Maine West varsity soccer team in the middle of the season and did a fine job in the nets as he shut out such teams as Maine North and Niles West.
Gary received his varsity letter in golf in his sophomore and junior years. This year he led the stickmen with an average score of 41 for nine holes, as he was the most consistent golfer on the team. The lowest score Gary shot for nine holes this season was two over par 38.
After graduation Gary will attend Oakton Community Junior College in Morton Grove. There he will major in mechanical design.
