Directors Select Acts For
'Collage of Color'

"Collage of Colors" is the theme for Maine West's annual V‑Show, to be held November 19, 20, and 21 in the auditorium. Faculty director Mr. Daryl Schultz and student director Rene Hoekstra '71 plan to make this year's show unlike any previous one.

Rene heads the V‑Show student staff which includes seniors Carol Gravesmill, coordinator; Mike Greene, assistant coordinator; Marji Cameron, Doug Kuite, and Jim Sedlak, music directors; Karen Dahm, make‑up director; Diane Zmuda, set designer; and Gloria De Franco, choreographer.

There will be three evening performances on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. and one matinee performance on Saturday at 2 p.m. Tickets will be sold in the bookstore and at Maria Schaefer Music Store.

After three weeks of tryouts, Mr. Schultz and, the student staff selected 31 acts to be in the show out of the 93 who tried out. The acts were chosen on the basis of showmanship, originality, and the participants' ability to accept criticism.

To make this year's show different from those in the past, the transition between acts will be visual instead of narrative. The unifying effect will be brought about by depicting the theme, "Collage of Colors," in the form of lights, sets, and costumes.

Rene commented, "Rehearsals are really going good; I am pleased. The acts need polishing some more, some less; but each act has something to work with. That was the main reason we selected them to be in the show." Although it is just the start of rehearsals, Rene said things seem to be coming together nicely and everyone is cooperating.

Participants are expected to attend their scheduled rehearsals. If absence is absolutely necessary, those unable to attend must have a written excuse from the person causing the absence. They must be willing to accept changes in their act decided upon by the directing staff.

Wide ranges of personalities and interests will be presented in the show in order to satisfy the wide range of personalities which will be in the audience.
