Maine West Handgun Club is very proud to be able to say that it is a first ‑ it is the only high school club of its kind in the United States. Presently the club has 30 members, both boys and girls, and welcomes any students who have an interest in firearms. Meetings are held on alternate Mondays and are devoted to discussions of the handgun for hunting and target shooting. At times outside speakers address the club meetings and offer their expertise. Two such speakers were Officer Lawrence Zumbrock of the Des Plaines Police Department and Mr. Jerry Foynor, manager of Johnson's Sporting Goods, who spoke to some of the members last year. |
Orchesis, the modern dance club, held its clinics October 19, 20, and 21 and its tryouts October 22 and 23. Thirteen girls were chosen from the 40 applicants. The new members are Roxanne Miller '73, Carol Sloan '74, Margaret Bednarz '74, Mary Freemire '73, Barb Slater '71, Bernadette Binder '74, Debbie Schimmel '74, Cathy Spellbrink '71, and Robert Bober '72. Others are Donna Rostowski '72, Jan Rudy '72, Jane Eisfeldt '73, and Cathy Sherman '73. |
