Runners Romp in CSL;
Great Year Ends

Maine South and Maine North visited Maine West for a double meet on October 20.

Taking the first two places, the freshman harriers trounced South 18‑45 and North 19‑42. Frost '74 finished first, Dunavant '74 second, Oland '74 fourth, Farmer '74 seventh, and Johnson '74 eighth.

Maine South ran away with the sophomore race 24‑31. Winder '73 was second, Barbour '73 third, Frost '73 seventh, Sedlack '73 ninth, and Klebe '74 tenth. North did not have a sophomore squad.

After a disappointing loss to Fremd at Libertyville, the varsity put on the greatest display of running seen in many years at Maine West.

The first six runners tied or broke last year's course record as West blanked South and North 15‑50. St. John '71 finished first, Anderson '71 second, Gyssler '71 third, Forkins '71 fourth, Wright '72 fifth, and Duntemann '71 sixth.

Maine completely dominated the Central Suburban Conference by taking first on all three levels. The meet was held in Wilmette on October 24.

Third place finisher Winder led the sophomores to a one point victory over Maine South. Other scoreres were Barbour fourth, Sedlack sixth, Klebe eleventh and Schultz thirteenth.

The varsity, led by St. John, had the first six runners and shut out the conference. Anderson was second, Kovar third, Forkins fourth, Wright fifth, and Duntemann sixth.

October 27 saw the varsity harriers at the District Meet at Elk Grove. The Warriors finished only five points behind Maine East, the number one rated team in the state.

Individual winner St. John led the team to the second place finish and a trip to the Sectionals. Anderson finished fifth, Forkins twelfth, Kovar thirteenth, Wright fourteenth, Duntemann seventeenth and Gyssler twenty‑fifth.
