Soccer Ends Season,
Earns 3-7-1 Record

After losing to Hinckley‑Big Rock the first time, the Warriors shut them out 2‑0 on Tuesday, October 20. Fred Campobasso '72 and Dan Hammer '71 each scored a goal with Paul Kosac '73 assisting. The Warriors dominated the game on offense.

On Thursday, October 22, the varsity won their second game in a row by beating Niles West 1‑0. The defense, as well as goalie Gary Navratil '71, played an outstanding game. Tom Jackson '71 was the lone scorer for the Warriors.

By losing 5‑4 to St. Ignatius, the sixth ranked team in the state, the varsity soccer almost pulled off an upset. Coach Tom Nystrom said after this game, "It was the best game we played all season." Dan Hammer played an outstanding game by scoring two goals. The other goals were scored by David Kail '71 and Alan Tuckey '73. It was the varsity's first loss at home.

Against arch‑rival Maine South the varsity soccer team did not fare so well. They lost 5‑0 on Tuesday, October 27. The squad did not play too well on offense or defense although it was a very rough game. Ending the season on a bad note, the squad lost to Illiana on October 29 by the score of 8‑3. The goal scorers for the Warriors were Dan Hammer, who scored two goals assisted by Gary Everett '72 on one. The other goal was scored by Fred Suevel '72 assisted by Dan Hammer.

On the frosh‑soph level the squad lost to Maine South on October 27 by the score of 3‑1. The lone goal was scored by Mark Hooczko '73. Against New Trier West on Thursday, October 29, the team was shut out by the score of 4‑0.
