Musicians Present Yule Songs

Maine West presented its annual Christmas Concert on December 11 at 8 p.m. in the auditorium. Featured in the program were students and members of the Music Department.

Mr. Donald Lord, Mr. Francis Vaupel, and Mr. Grant Anderson, directors of the program, began planning the program last October.

When asked exactly how much planning was required, Mr. Anderson stated, "It required quite a bit of planning. There was a lighting crew, PA system, and we used recording equipment which required a lot of work."

Concert Orchestra, Girls' Glee Club, Girls' Ensemble, Boys' Chorus, Concert Strings, and Choraliers were among the groups of singers. Also featured were the combined Girls' Choruses and Concert Choir.

Some of the songs featured in the show were "Toy Symphony," played by Concert Orchestra, "Mary Had a Little Baby" sung by Girls' Glee, "Sing Gloria" sung by the Girls' Ensemble, and "The Boar's Head Carol" sung by the Boys' Chorus. Also featured were Concert Strings who played "Weihnachtssinfonie," "There Is No Rose," sung by the Choraliers, "Carol of The Bells," sung by the Combined Girls' Choruses. The Concert Choir sang five songs amongst which was "Joy to the World."

Piano accompanists for the program were Chris Johanson '73, Sue Winkelman '73, Diana Reed '73, Scott Norris '74, Tom Sandri '74, and Victoria Harrison '71.

According to Mr. Lord, "The program was fine. The music was of interest to everyone. Next year I would like to see more students in attendance."
