By beating Elgin 64‑31 and Elk Grove 69‑28 on Saturday, December 5, the varsity swimming team won their fourth consecutive meet. In the 200‑yard medley relay, the team of Larry Bierwirth '73, Steve Dueball '72, Skip Parent '71, and Russ Zage '71 beat both opposing teams with a 1:49.6.
Eric Dahl '71 and Dave Dettman '72 came in first and second, respectively, in the 200‑yard free style for a two‑team sweep. In the 200‑yard individual medley Don Hudson's 2:18.1 was good enough for a first against Elk Grove and a second against Elgin. Russ Zage had a 24.7 for first, and Ken Brown '72 had a 24.8 for third against both teams in the 50‑yard free style.
In the diving competition Dave Eitel '72 and Joe DeFranco '72 came in first and second against Elk Grove and second and third against Elgin, respectively. Skip Parent then won the 100‑yard butterfly with a 58 flat. Ken Brown and Don Hudson '72 came in first and second against Elk Grove and came in second and third against Elgin in the 100‑yard free style.

Dave Dettman and Eric Dahl in the 400‑yard free style were first and second against Elgin, but the two were second and third against Elk Grove. Larry Bierwirth then had a second against Elk Grove and a first against Elgin in the 100‑yard backstroke. Paul Stenstrom '71 and the relay team also had two firsts in the 100‑yard breaststroke and 400‑yard free style relay, respectively.
The sophomore team also won against Elk Grove 76‑18 and Elgin 66‑28. Sophomores John Stanonis in diving, Greg Lambrecht in the 100 free, and Jeff McGraw in the 200‑yard individual medley each came in first against both teams.
In their first conference meet against Glenbrook South on Friday, December 11, the varsity lost by the score of 56‑39. The first place winners were in the 200 free, 200 I.M., 100 fly, 400 free, and 100‑yard breaststroke. Against Glenbrook South the sophomore team also lost by the score of 60‑35. On the J..V and freshman level against Maine North on Saturday, December 12, both teams won by the score of 78‑15 and 70‑18, respectively.
