December 18 found the Warriors playing host to Glenbrook North. The Spartans were soundly defeated 60‑40. It marked the fourth time in six games the Warrior defense has held its opponents to less than 50 points.
Fred Horn '71 and Dennis Willison '71 led the Warrior scoring with 14 points. Tom Kummer '71 added 12. Horn and Kummer pulled down 12 rebounds apiece with Willison getting three.
Taking a 5‑1 record into the Proviso West Tournament on December 26, the Warriors faced Lake Forest.
Going into the final stanza Maine led 62‑34. Substituting often in the fourth quarter, Maine led by as much as 39 points, as they won easily 79‑50.
Kummer led all scorers with 20 points with Willison bagging 19. Horn contributed 11 as Maine out rebounded Lake Forest 54‑28.
Meeting Proviso East in the second game of the tournament proved to be disastrous for the Warriors. They outshot and out rebounded the Pirates but fell 84‑68.
The Warriors jumped to a 13‑4 lead and led at the end of the first quarter 18‑17. The Warriors were outscored in the second half 31‑28, as they were easily defeated.

Five Warriors were in double figures. Horn had 15 and was followed by Kummer's 14, Wood, ley's 12, and Willison's and Kerr's 11. Kummer led the rebounding with 14.
Maine continued their domination of the conference teams with a trouncing of Glenbrook South on Friday, January 8. They defeated Glenbrook on their home floor 82‑61. It marked the fourth conference win for the Warriors.
With Kerr doing most of the scoring, Maine led 13‑9; but the Titans rallied and took a 17‑13 lead into the second quarter.
The Warriors, led by Kummer, who came off the bench in the second quarter, outscored the Titans 28‑12 in the second quarter. Maine led at the half 41‑29.
The Warriors were never threatened in the fourth quarter as they easily defeated the Titans and improved their overall record to 7‑2.
Five Warriors were in double figures. Horn led with 23 points. Following were Kummer with 16, Willison with 14, Kerr with 11, and Woodley with 10. Kummer also led the rebounding with 12, and Willison and Horn each pulled down six.
