Tankmen Triumph Against Niles East

By losing to Deerfield 62‑33 on Saturday, December 19, the varsity swimmers have a conference record of 0‑2 and an overall record of 4‑2. In the Deerfield meet Dave Dettman '72 started out with a 1:57.7, good enough for second in the 200‑yard free style after a loss in the 200‑yard medley relay. Skip Parent '71 then had a 2:09.8 for first in the 200‑yard individual medley followed by a 24.3 for a second in the 50‑yard free style by Russ Zage '71.

Dave Eitel '72 then took a first in the diving competition with 122.25 points. Next, Don Hudson '72 turned in a 1:02 for second while Steve Mammoser '72 came in third in the 100‑yard butterfly. In the 100‑yard free style, Skip Parent turned in a 56 flat for a second place.

Eric Dahl '71 then came in second with a 4:21.1 in the 400‑yard free style followed in third by Dave Dettman. In the 100‑yard backstroke Larry Bierworth '73 had a 1.00.7 for second. Then Steve Dueball '72 turned in a 1:09.3 for a second in the 100‑yard breaststroke followed by a second in the 400‑yard free style relay.

In the Deerfield meet the sophomore swimming team also lost by the score of 56‑38 on December 19. The squad started out with a loss in the 200‑yard medley relay followed by a second in the 200‑yard free style with a 2:10.3 by Garyt Dahl '73. Jeff McGraw '73 then had a third in the 200‑yard individual medley, and Tom Rasch '73 turned in a 26.4 for second in the 50‑yard free style.
