This year's musical, The Sound of Music, will be presented on March 25, 26, and 27 at 8 p.m. in the Maine West auditorium. On Wednesday, March 24, there will be a special matinee at 4:30 for junior high students and the Golden Agers.
Tryouts for both singing and acting roles have been completed. All major roles are double cast. The students chosen for leading roles are Jill Whetham '71 and Cheri Wittbolt '71 as Maria Rainer, and Doug Kuite '71 and Mike Maxa '71 as Captain Von Trapp. Max Detweler will be portrayed by Ben Adair '72 and Ron Morris '71, Elsa Schraeder by Sue Wille '71 and Rene Hoekstra '71. Jeanne Miller '71 and Nancy Spiegler '71 will be the Mother Abbess.
Additional roles will be played by Carla Krebs '72 and Shirley Frank '72 as Sister Margaretta, Gloria De Franco '71 and Ellen Nygaard '71 as Sister Sophia. Rolf Gruber will be portrayed by John Behnke '71 and Steve Mirro '72.
The Von Trapp children will be played by the following people. As Liesl, Marjorie Cameron '71 and Sue Winkelman '73; as Louisa, Cindy Brodie '73 and Sue Spiegler '74; as Brigetta, Debra Beck '72 and Katie Young '71; as Marta, Barbara Bridwell '73 and Diane Peterson '72; as Gretl, Kathy La Spina '71 and Debra Schladt '73. Fredrich and Kurt Von Trapp will be Bob Fitzgerald '73 and Matt O'Grady '73, respectively.

Other roles will be interpreted by Rick Shanahan '71 as Herr Zeller, Jill Fedder '71 as the Baroness Elberfeld, Bill Kopke '74 as the Admiral Von Schreiber, Ed Weaver '73 as the Lieutenant, Nancy Seitz '73 as the maid Ursula, Bob Martin '73 as the butler Franz, Joy Schulenburg '73 as the housekeeper Frau Schmidt, and Linda Costagli '73 as the postulant.
