Cindermen Fall, Lack Good Depth

Opening their indoor track season against Proviso West at Proviso on January 26, the Warrior cindermen took one on the chin as they were trounced 64‑45. Even though they lost, the Warriors still had many fine performances.

Jack St. John '71 and Don Anderson '71 got the team off to a flying start with first and second in the two‑mile. St. John's time was only one second off last year's best. Mike Pruitt '71 and Kevin Terry '71 picked up a second and a third in the 60‑yard high hurdles. Tom Duntemann '71 picked up a second in the 880‑yard run.

Jeff Duff '71 and Tom Zabroski '71 pulled in first and second in the long jump. Zabroski also picked up a first in the 440‑yard run, and Duff picked up a second in the high jump. Wayne Gyssler '72 racked up a second in the pole vault. Mark Mayer '71 captured a first in the shotput.

In the low hurdles Mike Pruitt picked up a second and St. John came back strong after the two-mile and took a second in the mile. The Warriors came up empty in the 50‑yard dash, 880‑yard relay, and mile relay. A lack of depth was the main factor in the Warrior loss.
