Against Maine South on February 5 the varsity swimming team will conclude their conference schedule. On Friday, January 15, the varsity squad easily beat Niles West by the score of 70‑25. The 200‑yard medley relay, consisting of Larry Bierwirth '73, Bob Van Ornum '72, Steve Mammoser '72, and Ken Brown '72, took a first followed by a one‑two finish in the 200‑yard free style by Dave Dettman 72 and Eric Dahl '71. Jeff Cassin '72 and Ralph Gilbertsen '72 then took a first and second in the 200‑yard individual medley.

Ken Brown and Russ Zage '71 then came in first and second in the 50‑yard free style. Divers Dave Eitel '72 and Joe DeFranco '72 then went one and two followed by a one‑two finish in the 100‑yard butterfly by Steve Mammoser '72 and Don Hudson '72. Dave Dettman '72 and Eric Dahl '71 then came in first and second in the 100‑yard free style.

Matt Rusch '72 then turned in a second in the 400‑yard free style followed by a one‑two finish in the 100‑yard backstroke from Don Brygaiski '72 and Ralph Gilbertsen '72. Bob Van Ornum '72 finished the scoring with a second in the 100‑yard breaststroke. The sophomores also beat Niles West by the score of 63‑32.

On Friday, January 29, the varsity lost to New Trier West by the score of 64‑31. The scoring started with a second in the 400‑yard medley relay, 200‑yard free style by Dave Dettman, and in the 200‑yard individual medley by Skip Parent. Joe DeFranco and Dave Eitel then finished one‑two in diving followed by a first in the 100‑yard butterfly by Skip Parent.
