Tri-S To Sponsor Science Fiction Movie

"Zotz," the science fiction thriller, will be shown after school on Thursday, March 4, in L‑101. Sponsored by Tri‑S, this highly acclaimed movie stars Tom Posten, Fred Clark, and Jim Backus. A free Zotz coin will be presented at random to a member of the audience by Bob Scarola, who originated the idea. Before and during the movie Tri‑S members will also sell taffy apples. The price of admission to the movie will be $.25. For just a taffy apple, the price will be $.15. For both admission and a taffy apple, $.30 will be charged.


Aquiana, Maine West's synchronized swim club, will present its annual swim show on April 22, 23, and 24. Entitled "Water Wonderland," this year's show will be a tribute to the late Walt Disney, with each water number representing one of his many fantasy characters. Fourteen acts will be presented with such themes as: "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," "Bambi," "Chip and Dale," "101 Dalmatians," "Tinker bell," and many other famous Disney characters.

Mr. Arnold Harrison, news director for WGN radio, hosted a seminar on news reporting and writing on Wednesday, February 17. Members of the seminar consisted mostly of the news staff from the school radio station WMTH. Chris DeVoney '71, news director for WMTH, commented on the outcome of the seminar. "I thought Mr. Harrison did an outstanding job of discussing the news media. He really told it like it was!"


Mary Van Noy '74 has been elected as the first president of the new Usherettes Club. Mary will be assisted by Claudia Weed '73 who was elected secretary.


This week, Tri‑M, the music society, is sponsoring a candy sale. The candy bars are selling for $.50 and can be purchased from any Tri‑M member.
