Maine Loses Game To Arlington, 21-0

On Friday, September 11, the fifth annual "Sports Spectacular" was held, which was sponsored by the Maine West Dad's Club. The cost was $.50 for students and $1 for adults.

An inter-squad game was played, and the soccer, cross country, and football teams were introduced for this year. The new Junior Varsity-Varsity Cheerleaders and Pom-Pon Squad were also introduced. Helen Darras '73 commented, "We had a pretty good turn-out on the whole, but it wasn't as big as last year."

In the Arlington game Friday, September 17, the sophomores won 26-7, and varsity faced a hard defeat with a score of 21-0.

Coach Carstens commented, "In the Arlington game, we gained close to 200 yards. I think we did pretty well. We did have some bad calls and a few fumbles, but it seemed that we did move the ball efficiently and smoothly. As far as the Maine South game goes, we'll probably have our hands full. I think it's going to be the biggest game."
