| Sue Sciez '73 and Bob Scarola '72 are going downstate to represent Maine West in the state speech contests. They are being held in Bloomington today and tomorrow, March 24 and 25. Preliminaries are being held on today and finals will be held on Saturday. Out of the three Maine West students who made the final rounds in the sectionals, Sue and Bob qualified for state competition. Sectionals were held at Niles North. Bob placed first in original dialogue. Sue took second in prose reading. Kim Beedy '72 placed sixth in verse. Thirty-three schools competed at the sectionals and Maine West placed fourth. In district competition, which was held at Maine West, the team placed first. The AFS program will be going into its second decade at Maine West this fail. Applications may be obtained for those desiring to act as a host family for a foreign exchange student for the upcoming school year. |
Mame, this year's musical, opened last night, March 23. It will run through Saturday, March 25. Tickets are available at the bookstore and at Johnson's Sporting Goods. The prices of the tickets are $2.50, $2, and $1.50. All seats are reserved. There are two different casts involved in the production. Miss Heidi Rupp's Spanish classes and the members of the Spanish Club wrote a letter to Francisco Fernandes Ochoa recently. The letter was one of congratulations on his winning of an Olympic Gold in the slalom at Sapporo, Japan. Easter vacation will start on Friday, March 31, and run through Sunday, April 9. The beginning of Easter vacation will mark the end of the third quarter grading period. |
