Cindermen Victorious; Record First Win |

| On March 28 the Maine West cindermen were victorious over Hersey on all levels. The varsity score was 661/2 to 421/2. Chip Barbour '73 grabbed a first in the two-mile. Larry Franzen '73 won high hurdles, low hurdles, and 50-yard dash. Greg Klebe '74 grabbed first in the 880. Maine West won the 12-lap relay. Ken Meyers '73 and Wayne Gyssler '72 took first in the high jump. Gyssler also won pole vault. Steve Suchow '72 placed first in shotput. Second places were taken by Kevin Wright '72 -2-mile, Bob Chapman '73-440, and Ron Siska '72-long jump. The sophomores won by a score of 57 to 52. The two-mile was taken by Brian Dunavant '74. Joe Jobst took first in high hurdles. Bill Mraz '75 grabbed first in the 50-yard dash. Randy Van Vleck '75 finished first in the 440. Dunavant took first in the one-mile and Scott Kiester won shotput. |
Maine West captured second in the 12-and 4-lap relays. Second place was also taken by Paul Frost '74 in two-mile, Rich Schmidt '74 in the 880, and Van Vleck in the long jump. Jobst grabbed a third in the high jump. The freshman team beat Hersey by a score of 80 to 25. Paul Mademann won the two- mile. Dan Sikora took first in the high hurdles and pole vault. He also finished second in the high jump. Phil Logsdon won the 50-yard dash. The 880 was win by Andre Decos. Maine West captured first in both the 12- and 4-lap relays. Mike Janonis took first in the long jump and shotput. Bill Loris finished first in the one-mile, and Bill Wadman took second in the 440. |
