Athletes Give Views On Future Seasons

Frank Mitchell '72, Maine West baseball player, says that the main goal of the team this year is to better their record. He remarked that this year's team is solid with a lot of juniors. Last year's team placed second out of nine schools in the tough Central Suburban League. With luck, maybe they will win the championship as they did in 1963. The coach is Mr. Al Carstens.

John Anderson's '73 view of the tennis team this year is an encouraging one. He says, "One of the main goals of the team is to improve their standings and beat Maine South. The team has been defeated the past couple of years by that school. Last year under the guidance of Coach Roger King they placed fifth in the conference.
The outdoor track season was to begin on March 28 but was cancelled because of the snow. Wayne Gyssler '72 says, "Truthfully, the team has a lack of depth; and they will probably not have a good season." If the weather. was good, they faced La Grange and Palatine in Palatine yesterday.

Tom Runde's '72 hopes for the golf season this year are good. He says they hope to finish higher but that will be real tough because the competition is excellent. Three of the top five teams in the state are in our conference.

He rates the team as good but that there will have to be a strong, consistent performance from all the players to do well. Each golfer should cut his average by 2 strokes from last year.
