Netmen Defeat Prospect, Place Third in Invitational

This year's tennis season opened for Maine West with a third place finish in the Maine West Invitational on Saturday, April 1. The three schools invited to the meet were first place Ilomewood - Flossmoor, second place Hersey, and fourth place Crystal Lake.

Roger Junge '72 captured a first place championship in the third singles. In the sixth singles Doug Meister '73 swung into second place.

The team of John Anderson '73 and Steve Wild '73 worked together to get a first place championship in the first doubles. The Maine West netmen came up with 13 points in the home meet.
On Thursday, April 6, the netmen were victorious over Prospect with a final combined score of 4-1.

In the singles John Anderson '73 won with set scores of 6-0 and 6-3. Jack Semler '73 also had a victory over Prospect with set scores of 7-5 and 6-4.

The team Joe Thimm '73 and Roger Junge '72 had a tough battle but won in the doubles with set scores of 6-0, 5-7, and 6-3.

Another doubles team, Jim Lauffenberger '74 and Doug Meister '73, defeated Prospect by scores of 7-5 and 6-3. The frosh-soph team had a 3-2 victory over Prospect.
