Varsity Cheerleaders Are Chosen |
||||||||||
| During the upcoming 1972-73 1 school year there will be noticeable changes in the cheerleading squads. Instead of haying both a varsity squad in I addition to a junior varsity squad there will only be a varsity squad. The varsity squad in the past has been composed of eight girls and the junior varsity squad of six girls. Next year's varsity squad will contain 14 girls. Six new varsity uniforms are being ordered to accommodate the additional members. There are several reasons for this change. One of these reasons is that next yea there will be no junior varsity football squad and |
possibly no junior varsity basketball squad, because of the defeat of the referendum. Another reason is that the additional girls will provide an opportunity for the minor sports to be covered by cheerleaders. The first eight girls on the squad will cover the major sports, and the next six will cover the minor sports and any junior varsity games. However, all girls will wear varsity uniforms. Tryouts were held last month in order to determine the squad. |
