| As the 1971-72 school year draws to a close, the Maine West banquet season is under way. On May 8, members of the Student Council gathered at the Casa Royale. During the evening the 1972-73 standing committee chairmen were announced and Mrs. Kay Keeley, who is leaving Maine West, was presented with a plaque in honor of her service to the Student Council as a sponsor. Maine West's ski enthusiasts met May 15 at the Swedish Manor House. In addition to the presentation of such "distinguished" awards as Best Lodge Skier and Worst Dressed Skier, next year's Ski Club officers were announced. Debbie Peterson '73 was elected president; Debbie Maday '74, vice-president; Martha Clement '74, secretary, and Bill Paxton '73, treasurer. |
On May 18, participants in the distributive education program dined at the Casa Royale. Scott Wagner '72 was chosen Distributive Education Student of the Year, and Beth Shakespeare '72 was runner up. Awards for individual achievement were also presented. The Brotherhood Society banquet was held May 24 at the Casa Royale. Next year's officers were announced during the evening. President is Mark Drysch '73. Other officers include juniors Cindy Figge as vice-president and Lynn Heiden as secretary-treasurer. At the Service Awards Dinner May 22, students who worked during their free time as assistants in the library, personnel office, deans' office, nurses' office, attendance office, bookstore, and audio-visual program were treated to dinner at the Scanda House. |
