G.R.A. Faces Major Change

As a result of policy changes by the Illinois Athletic Association, the girls' athletic program at Maine West will undergo a major change next school year.

In the past all girls' sports were part of the GRA program at Maine West. Sportsday competition was limited, and four of the girls' teams (volleyball, swimming, softball, and track) each participated in two sportsdays. Interscholastic competition was only allowed in golf, archery, badminton, and tennis.
Next year the girls' interscholastic sports program will separate from GRA and will be comparable to the boys' athletic program in which the interscholastic and intramural sports are separate.

The new program will be sponsored by Miss Karen Kenyon, chairman, Girls' Physical Education Department.

Each of the individual and dual teams will have an eight to nine game schedule, and the number of sportsdays for team sports will be increased to four.
