Golfers Defeat N.N. For First Conf. Win

On May 18 the Warriors recorded their only victory of the season over Niles North 158-168. Commenting on their first win, Coach Ken Olson said, "Our team has been scoring well all season long, but we just haven't been able to put all our scores together."

The Warriors lost to Maine North 156-171 and to New Trier West 158-168. These two losses combined for a losing season of 1-7 in conference and 1-10 overall. The Warriors main reason for such a poor showing this season is the slow start of the seniors.

Paul Witkay '72 has come on strong lately, but Pete Olson '72 has failed to make the starting five in the last three meets.
The team has had to rely mainly on Junior Jeff Potter and sophomore Glen Dalbke. These two players have consistently kept the Warriors' scores down all season long.

Maine West participated in Niles West districts on Friday, May 12, and finished 13 out of 17 teams. The Warriors did not qualify for the sectionals. The Warriors are looking forward to the conference meet on Monday.

The Warriors will send out Paul Witkay '72, Pete Olson '72, Jeff Potter '73, Craig Allind '73, Art Serbin '73, Mark Wagner '73, and Glen Dalbke '74.
