Seniors Participate in Graduation Ceremonies |

| Maine Township High School West will present the thirteenth annual Baccalaureate in the Maine West spectator gymnasium Sunday, June 11, at 8 p.m. The first event of the evening will be the processional. The songs "March of the Meistersingers" by Wagner and Sullivan's "Entrance and March of the Peers" will be played by the Commencement Orchestra, which will be under the direction of Mr. Francis Vaupel. Miss Jennifer Ann Jobst, secretary of the Senior Class, will follow with the invocation. Miss Janet Lynn Rizzo, vice president of the Senior Class, will read from the Scriptures. "How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place" from Requiem, by J0hannes Brahms, will be sung by the Commencement Concert Choir, conducted by Mr. Donald Lord. Reverend John P. Smyth of the Maryville Academy will preach the sermon. The title is "A New Look at Life: Think of Tomorrow." Miss Mary Patrice Paroubek, treasurer of the Senior Class, will perform the benediction, which will precede the recessional. "Coronation March" from The Prophet by Meyerbeer and "Pomp and Circumstance" by Elgar will end the program. The seniors are to wear their caps and gowns to the Baccalaureate. |
Maine West will hold its thirteenth annual Commencement June 13, 1972. This year will be the first time it will be held in the grandstands outside. Should it rain it will be held in the spectator gym. The service will start with "Fanfare" by Mr. Jared Spears which was composed for Maine West graduations. The proces-sional, played by the Commencement Band and conducted by Mr. Gerald F. Hug, consists of the "Grand March" from Aida by Verdi and the March Processional by Grundman. Reverend R. A. W. Bruehl, First Methodist Church of Des Flames, will give the invocation. Mr. Herman L. Rider, prin-cipal, will introduce the president of the Senior Class, Kenneth Lee Piest. Ken will give a welcome address and introduce the Maine Scholars who will have been chosen by the top one percent of the class. Mr. Ralph J. Frost, assistant superintendent of Maine Township High School District 207, will present the class. Mr. William P. Wuehrmann, president of the Board of Education, will accept the class. Diplomas will be presented by Board of Education members: Graduates names will be read by Mr. John G. Graef and Mr. George J. Walker, Jr. The Class of '72 will sing their Alma Mater for the last time as an entire class. The recessional will be "Pomp and Circumstance" by Elgar and "Pomp and Chivalry" by Roberts. |
