Did You Know

Student Creates 'Spirit'

Some pieces of art around the school may have attracted your attention. The Spirit of Maine West near the main entrance was done by Todd Riddell '64. It took six months to complete, and two of those months were devoted to sketches and ideas. It is made of steel wire mesh and burlap dipped in plaster and weighs about 200 pounds. It symbolizes not only the sport's spirit but the feeling of all Maine West students.

The sculptures near the door of the main office were also done by Todd in his art class. The hooked rug in the office was done by Donna Linboe '64 and was purchased by the Art Department.

Senior pictures will be handled by mail this year. Walinger Studios will mail a card to the student telling him that his pictures are ready. The student sends the balance of the payment, and the studio sends the pictures.
Some students may wish to send a card or greeting to Mrs. Christina McCloud. If you don't recognize her name, you probably know her from the cafeteria a la carte line where she worked every day. She's the short one with red hair and an English accent.

Mrs. McCloud suffered a stroke on Sunday, September 29, and is at Lutheran General Hospital in Room 559.

Dial Tones won't be ready until late October, according to Lynda Mielke '72. They were sent to the printer last week after the Freshman Class officers' names were put in.

Four clubs have been discontinued this year because of lack of participation. They are the Radio Club, Photo Club, Coin Club, and Girls' Business Club.
