Warriors' Streak Stopped at 22

Maine West, along with 25 other schools participated in the Ridgewood Invitational on Saturday, October 2.

The sophomores finished fourth and the varsity took fifth.

Scorers on the sophomore level were Brian Dunavant '74, eighth; Joe Andrews '74, nineteenth; Greg Klebe '74, twentythird; Glen Oland '74, twentyninth; and Rich Schimdt '74, forty-fifth.

Scoring for the varsity were Keven Wright '72, eleventh; Chip Barbour '73, thirteenth; Dan Long '72, twenty-ninth; Kevin Skahan '74, forty-third; and Brad Frost '73, fifty-ninth.

Thursday September 30, found the Maine West Warriors competing against New Trier West and Niles North.

On the freshman level, Gary Brenner '75 led the squad to a 25-34 win over Niles North and an 18-43 win over New Trier West.

Dunavant headed the successful sophomore pack. Oland grabbed third and was pursued by Klebe who picked up fifth. Scott Johnson '74 and Bruce Winclechter '74 came in sixth and eighth as the sophomores racked up a 15-50 over New Trier West and a 23-34 triumph over Niles North.

The varsity harriers succeeded in overwhelming their opponents with a 22-2 and a 17-6 conquest over New Trier West and Niles North. Guided by the consistent first place running of Wright, the top five of the Warriors consisted of Barbour in second place, Long in third, Frost in ninth and Skahan in tenth.
Confronted by two Chicagoland schools, Lane Tech and Taft, the harriers pulled through with the freshmen and sophomores defeating the two teams, but the varsity did not fare so well.

The freshmen defeated Lane by a 2-8 score. The sophomores trounced Lane by a 15-50 score and took Taft 16-47. The varsity whipped Taft 17-46 but lost to Lane 27-28.

Invited to the Waukegan Invitational, Maine West's standings were high compared to the other 14 schools.

The freshmen, who placed third in the meet, were paced by Brenner who placed twelfth.

The sophomores, who also took a third in the meet, were headed by Skahan who was eleventh.

On the varsity level, the squad took second to first place Forest View with a total of 74 points. Again they were led by Wright, who came in seventh place. He was followed by Barbour who finished ninth; Long, twelfth; Dean Kamin '72, twentieth; and Tony Winder '73, twenty-sixth.

Traveling to Niles West on September 23 and competing against Niles West and Glenbrook North in their first double dual meet of the season, the Maine West harriers captured first on all three levels.

The first man in the chute for the freshman squad was Brenner who placed first, and was followed by Williams who took second, Loris who was fourth. Schaefle and Bocskay were fifth and sixth.

The sophomore squad came through by producing a shutout. The first eight men completing the race were all Maine West Warriors. Klebe placed first, Frost was second, Skahan, third; Oland, fourth; Andrews, fifth; Dunavant, sixth.
