Movie Prices Discussed By Students, Teachers |
||||||||||
| A subject quite often brought up is the inflated prices of movies. Students are forced to pay adult prices at most theaters. Des Plaines is different. They have kept their prices down to $.60, which can easily fit into most people's and students' budgets. Opinions on inflated prices of movies vary though from person to person. Some of the comments brought up by those people against inflated prices are Pat Barton '74 says, "They are too high, and I only go see the ones at Des Plaines because of it. " Roy Chapman '74 feels that "They are unfair because people under 16 very often do not have jobs and are unable to get them. Legally, people under 18 are considered minors, so why pay adult prices?" Val Bluemel '75 has the idea that "It is not fair that we have to pay adult prices when we can't see adult movies." Chris Pascente '74 states that "It is not good because a lot of the kids can't afford $2 or whatever it costs, to go see a show." |
Teachers have feelings about this subject also, but some just can't give a serious answer, as illustrated when Mr. Brent Michaels says, "We used to pay a nickel." Mr. James Martin has different ideas when he contends that "They aren't inflated. They vary from theater to theater, and you can find a cheap theater if you look hard enough." Although some students have strong feelings about inflated - prices, others really don't care as is expressed when Gail Blaski '74 says, "I don't mind because it's the guy I go with that has to pay." David Braun '74 and Karen Porter '75 don't mind they say, "I don't see movies that much." At least we can safely say that there is at least one theater that is thinking of the students when they are making up their prices. I think that we ought to thank the Des Plaines Theater for keeping their prices within student's budgets. |
