Campus Life To Sponsor 'Soul Concern' Assembly |
||||||||||
| "Soul Concern," a folk group consisting of seven performers, four whites and three blacks, will hold a concert at Maine West on Tuesday, November 23, during seventh period in the auditorium. Students having PAR, a study, or early dismissal are invited to attend. "Soul Concern," a group simil-ar to "Random Sample" who performed at Maine West last year, plans to translate the Christian message through their music. The theme being told will be about life. They will show us different facets of life through the presentation. "Oh Happy Day" will be among the songs they will sing. Commenting on that, Mr. Mr. Eldon Burk said, "I like it when they have talent and also something good to say." |
Campus Life, who will sponsor the concert, is an association of different schools in a designated area. Maine West belongs to the north area which is one of about 10 schools, Maine South being the largest. Meetings are held every other Tuesday evening in the homes of Campus Life members. Approximately 75 to 100 people appear at each session. All interested students are invited to the meetings. According to Becky Guenther '74, a member of Campus Life, "Soul Concern" has been adopted as "their" group. If "Soul Concern" has a good presentation. Maine West hopes to invite them back again in the spring for another all-school Brotherhood assembly. According to other schools where they have performed before, "Soul Concern" was said to be a tremendous performing group of musicians. |
