News Briefs Dads To Honor West's Athletes |

| Dad's Club Awards Night will take place on Tuesday, November 23, in the auditorium at 7:30 p. m. The purpose of Awards Night is to honor the players involved in the fall sports at all levels, such as: soccer, cross country, and football. At this time awards will be given to those boys qualifying in their respective sports. The most valuable player and the honorary captain of each team will also be announced. These positions are voted on by the team. Swap Shop may be heard daily from 10:50 to 11 am. on WMTH, 88.5 FM. If anyone has something to either buy or sell, one may call 827-6176 or write WMTH, 1755 South Wolf Rd., Des Plaines. When calling or writing one should include information about the item to be bought or sold, his name and address, or phone number. A sound assembly was held on Monday, November 1, in the auditorium. Many things were discussed, among them were pitch, how sound travels, and how to cut a record. Mr. Chris Stevens, who is a disc jockey on WLS radio, was the speaker at the assembly. |
Maine West Warrior pennants are on sale in C-101, in front of the cafeteria before school, and during third period PAR. The pennants are being sold by the Distributive Education Blue Club. Tickets are on sale for this year's V-Show, "To See Yourself," in the bookstore and at Spiegler's Department Store. The price of the tickets are $1.50, and all seats are reserved. V-Show will take place on November 17, 18, 19, and 20. Curtain time will be at 8 p.m. Student Council will be sponsoring a food drive November 10-19. Each homeroom will be asked to bring a specific type of food and to bring this food to their homeroom representative. This food will be donated to 10 welfare families in Des Plaines. A penny drive, "Pennies for the Poor," will be held November 15-19. Jars will be placed in the cafeteria, one for each class. The drive will be conducted as a contest between the classes. The money collected will be used to purchase food not brought in. |
