West's Music Department To Give Annual Concert

The Maine West Music Department will help ring in the Christmas season by presenting the Christmas Concert 1971-1972 on Thursday, December 16, at 8 p.m. in the auditorium. Tickets are $1 for adults and $.75 for students. They are available at the door.

Commencing the musical program will be the Concert Choir, accompanied by Mr. James Thunder on the organ, singing "Fanfare for Christmas Day" by G. Plattner, "And the Glory of the Lord" from G.F. Handel's Messiah, and "As Lately We Watched" arranged by C. Black, which will be highlighted with a solo by Cindie Brodie '73.

Succeeding the Concert Choir, the Girls' Ensemble will sing "Silver Bells" arranged by G. Terry.

The Combined Girls' and Boys' Choruses will collaborate to present "O Listen to the Angel's Song" by A. Ringwald and the traditional, "Angels We Have Heard On High" and "Joy to the World." Accompanying the Combined Choruses will be Shirley Frank on piano and some instrumental members of the ensemble.
Next, the Choraliers will sing "What Child is This?" arranged by R. B. Ruggles and "My Dancing Day" arranged by A. Parker and A. Shaw. Comprising the Choraliers are Sue Anderson, Guy Appa, Deb Beck, Gary Blume, Cheryl Boeckenhauer, Cindie Brodie, Bill Burns , Shirley Frank, Bill Sandri, Sue Sciez, and Nancy Seitz.

"Gesu Bambino" by P.A. Yon will be sung by the Girls' Glee Club, presenting Martha Clement, Annamarie Lux, Carol Pazdioch, and Marcia Strykowski as soloists. They will be accompanied by Barbara Wilson. "Tiny King" by J.E. Eitel will also be performed with the accompaniment of Cathy Neumann on piano and the woodwind quintet consisting of Dale Pischke, oboe; Joyce Koelper, bassoon; Kathy Bolman, horn; Don Jakesch, clarinet; and Gail Kremers, flute.

The Concert Orchestra will then perform the "Concerto in G minor, Op. No. 86 or "Christmas Concerto" by Guiseppi Tovelli.

To conclude the night of Christmas melodies, the last performance will be the Christmas Story.
