Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor:
I am writing this to inform the students of Maine West that this is your paper and if you have a complaint about the paper, let's hear it.

All a person has to do is walk through the cafeteria the day the paper comes out and you'll hear enough complaints and questions to fill the whole paper.

So why don't you complainers take a few minutes of your time and let your complaints be heard by writing to the editor yourself and giving your complaints to any staff member or to Mr. George Walker who can usually be found in room R-210.

Dear Editor:
Recently there was a concert held in the auditorium where the group Soul Concern was featured. It was held during seventh period and students whose teachers allowed them to go were invited. Other concerts or special presentations have also been conducted in this manner.

I think that if Student Council, Brotherhood Society, or any other organization is going to go to the trouble and cost to provide these concerts, everyone should have the opportunity to see them.
It was said that the concert was held in the auditorium because the acoustics were better than those in the spectator gym. Consequently, only a few had the opportunity to see the concert. I hope that in the future, concerts like this one can be viewed by everyone.

Dear Editor:
After attending the recent Soul Concern assembly, I felt a certain sense of shame about being a student at Maine West. The reason for this was the manner in which many of the students conducted themselves.

While Soul Concern was trying its best to entertain, kids in the audience were talking, laughing, or groaning; and many even left. It was espe-cially sad when one of the group who happened to be speaking about caring for your fellow man was practically inaudible above the noise.

Was this behavior justified? Of course not. for no one was forced to go to that assembly. If another optional attendance program such as this is presented, I hope those students who have neither the interest nor the maturity to display courtesy to guest performers will not spoil it for others by attending.
