'Put a Little Love In Your Heart'

It is often said that the Christmas season has become entirely a commercial venture. The true spirit of gaiety and brotherhood is not found in the crowds that fill the shopping centers. This is not a question of any religious idea, but simply the practical application of the Golden Rule. By "practical application" I do not mean: If I give him a gift, he'll give me a gift.

To help you enjoy the Christmas holidays and to keep your spirit up, I offer the following five suggestions:

1) Have stuffed aspharagus for Christmas dinner, the turkeys need love, too!

2) Invite the RAINdeer in out of the SNOW.

3) For sure-fire Christmas spirit, fill your HOT PANTS with snow.

4) Take an elf to lunch.

5) Jingle your bells.
Of course, these were only weak attempts at a little holiday humor, but I truly hope that people will enjoy this season.

If you find it hard to get into the mood that is created by the falling snow, the varicolored lights, and the department store Santa Claus, take a moment to think about the lonely Salvation Army worker ringing his bell for hours at a time. He has such a love for humanity in general that this love lights the way for him to do things for others. It must be this light of human warmth and compassion that keeps him warm on those freezing street corners.

The song that says "put a little love in your heart" must be referring to this brotherly love. If I do not love you, how can I respect myself; for I am basically no more nor less than you.

So, in conclusion, I say have a MERRY and do it with those you love.
