Senior Play on Its Way

Flowers for Algernon, this year's Senior Class Play, now has life. Tryouts were held last week, November 29, 30, and December 1. The cast members' names were posted December 2 by Mr. Ronald Mills, the director, along with crew heads.

Charlie will be played by Ben Adair '72. He feels that "The play is very demanding for each role being played." Teenage Charlie will be Randy Zirkle '74.

Alice Kinnian, Charlie's teacher, is Sharon Gragg '72. As far as the play is concerned, she is looking forward to "seeing it all put together and becoming gorgeous."

The doctors who work on Charlie's case are Professor Nemur, Bill Kopke '74, and Dr. Strass, Bob Scarola '72. Bob thinks that Flowers for Algernon will be "a challenge to Maine West." Another doctor involved with Charlie is Burt played by Bob Cassinelli '72.

Charlie's parents are to be played by Carol Crowther '72 and Larry Born '72. About tryouts Larry said, "I was talked into it, but I'm glad I tried out."

Norma, Charlie's sister, is in the play both as a child and an adult. This is due to the use of flashback by Charlie. As the child she is played by Terry Zil-lox '74. Norma as an adult will be Donna Huff '72.
Some fellow employees of Charlie's are Joe, Frank, Gina, and Ellen to be played by Kent Carle '72, Brett Barnard '73, Debbie Isher '72, and Sue Rhorbach '72, respectively.

Rita Westerfield '72, Joy Schulenberg '73, and Gayle Maday '73 will play Mrs. Donner, Mrs. Mooney, and Mrs. Feldman, respectively.

Professor Nemur's wife will be played by Diane Doty '72. Jackie will be Darcy Osborn '74. Ann is to be Jan Rudy '72. Jan's positive attitude is obvious when she says, "I enjoy the cast. I know the play will be a success."

Bernice and Connie, some of Charlie's early classmates, will be played by Renee Tietze '74 and Nancy Seitz '73. A nurse is to be played by Barb Bridwell '73, who says she tried out because "I promised my parents and teachers that I wouldn't."

Doris, a lab technician, will be played by Pam Moscinski 73. The chairlady will be Gail Trebilcock '72. Frank Mrozek '73 will play Mr. Harvey.

Since Charlie must appear in some scenes as a child, a real child is going to play him. Jay Janese '81 is now in the third grade.
