Gymnasts Lose Two Meets; |

| The gymnastics team for the 1970-71 season began their season last Friday, December 3, at Waukegan where they suffered a disappointing loss of 109-79, The team also lost at Wheeling on Saturday, December 4, 116-84. Despite these losses Steve Schwab '72 says, "The team still lookes pretty good; Is really too early in the season it's to tell for sure." This year's varsity squad is made up of the following gymnasts: Steve Holmbeck '72, Steve Schwab '72, Phil DePrato '73, Bill Lumpp '73, Robin Ruediger '72, John Leer '72, Tom Fulham '72, Steve Nyberg '73, John Beller '72, Kevin Koerner '72, and Chuck Martino '72. |
Holmbeck '72 works all around, Schwab works the floor exercise, parallel bars, a n d trampoline. De Prato works rings, parallel and high bars. Lumpp, Beller Ruediger, and Nyberg work the side horse. John Leer '72 represents Maine on the trampoline and floor ex. Tom Fulham works high bar; and Koerner along with Martino, works rings and high bar. Members of the sophomore squad who will be representing Maine are Keith Ways, Mark Brooks, Mark Schliedt, Ken Heller, John Aniol, Bill Rausch, Mike Buckley, Ken Tekela, Keith Koerner, and Wade Mozal. This year's freshman squad consists of Tim Mozal Bob Farrell, Mike McFarland, Steve Taylor, John Fisher, John Jaeckle, and Bob Martino. With the combined talents of all these gymnasts and the coaching experience of Coach Sidney Drain, we can look forward to an exciting season. The team will face Proviso West tomorrow at home at 1:30 p.m. |
