Glenbrook South Student Gives Views of Maine West |
||||||||||
| Brent Zhorne a senior from Glenbrook South High School, recently attended Maine West for one day. The visit took place last month. When asked what impressed him the most at Maine West, Brent replied, "The Student Council meetings are fantastic. You could hear everybody for two reasons. First, there was a great atmosphere; and second, they had a system of microphones set up and microphone was lowered in front of each speaker." Brent was also impressed with the enthusiastic response that the students gave to the Student Council meetings. He also thought highly of the activities calendar that each class published. His impressions of the students were also quite favorable. He said that none of the students he came into contact with were unfriendly to him. One thing he noticed was that the Maine West students were dissatisfied with the library facilities that belong to the school. |
Brent said that although the students complained that the library was too small, he thought that Maine West had more efficient use of space than Glenbrook South. He added that almost all the shelves were filled, whereas many of the Glenbrook South's library shelves are only partially filled. Brent also liked the student operated photo lab that he observed at Maine West. He felt that it gave students who were interested in photography a better opportunity to get experience than they have at Glenbrook. Finally, Glen was impressed with the Little Theater in which one of the classes he visited was held. He also said that he thought the lunch which he had on his visiting day was better than the ones he eats at his own school. The preceding information was received from John Lyday, the feature editor of The Oracle, the Glenbrook South newspaper. John interviewed Brent when he returned to Glenbrook after the exchange with Maine West. |
