Brotherhood Society Announces Members

On Thursday, February 3, a Brotherhood assembly was held. The purpose of this assembly was to announce the newly elected members of the Brotherhood Society. Three girls and three boys were nominated from each class. In case of a tie both students were accepted.

Those chosen from the Freshman Class were Kathy Larson, Paula Potter, Lynne Sexton. Jim Andrews, Jeff Dennis, and Steve Zuccarini. The Sophomore Class elected: Karen Gutzmer, Sue Jobst, Grace Wright, Pete Farmer, Joe Jobst, and John O'Connor.

The new members from the Junior Class include: Mary Foote, Lynn Heiden, Gail Nygaard, Larry Bierwirth, Joe Prang, Joe Thimm, and Carl Wells. Those whom the seniors chose were Ticker Burchard, Pat Heller, Jan Kennedy, Sue Kern, Bill Mitchell, Tom Parker, and Dale Pruemer. Maine West's honorary member is Hamid Rahim, the foreign exchange student.
After the new members were announced, the guest speaker, Mr. Don Loney, was introduced. He related many humorous incidents to the students which he had encountered during his travels. He stressed the fact that two people can be radically different but still respect each other.

Mr. Loney also emphasized that a person must decide what path he is going to take and then stick to it. Mr. Eldon Burk, assistant principal, commented that it was one of the best assemblies the student body had participated in.

The new members who were received into the honorary club are members for the remainder of their years at Maine West. Brotherhood Society sponsors a coin drive for the March of Dimes and this year sponsored a concert.
