Eleven Girls Chosen In Orchesis Tryouts |
||||||||||
| Orchesis, Maine West's dance club, held tryouts again on Thursday, January 13. Clinics were held on January 10, 11, and 12. The girls were required to attend at least two of these clinics in order to try out. Approximately 30 girls tried out and 11 girls made it. The girls learned the same dance as was taught at tryouts in the fall. Those who made it include: Gerri Damptz '75, Linda Fedell '74, Mary Halachoulis '74, Debbie Jacunski '74, Terry Nelson '74, and Carol Kent '75. The other new members are Holly Norwick '75, Jill Shakespeare '74, Barb Sherman '75, Elaine Skahan '72, and Carol Volberding '74. These new members will be required to try out again in the fall if they wish to remain in the club, as will the members who made it last fall. Those girls who have successfully gone through tryouts two consecutive times are in the club permanently. |
The reason for tryouts being held again is that many of the previous members were eliminated. Many of them graduated after the first semester. Additional members were needed in order that Orchesis could put on its annual show. This year's show will be entitled "Every Picture Tells a Story." The show will be held on Friday and Saturday, April 14 and 15. On Tuesday, January 25, Orchesis held a meeting at which the girls divided into their dance groups for the show. There will be groups of three, four, five, six, and seven. Girls who will be in solos and duets were picked at a special tryout where the girls had to make up their own dances. |
