Gymnasts Defeat M. S., M. N., Begin Preparation for Conference |

| Last Saturday Maine West hosted the Hawks from Maine South. It was a very close meet with the Warriors coming out on top with a 105.26 to 105.23 victory. Individually, Steve Schwab '72 placed first in the floor exercise. Schwab and John Leer '72 placed first and second respectively on the trampoline event. On the side horse Robin Ruediger '72 took a second place finish. On the parallel bars Steve Holmbeck '72 had the highest average for Maine West with 5.2 but could only place fourth. On the high bar Tom Fulham '72 placed fourth in the meet with a 5.4 average. Steve Holmbeck took a first on the still rings event. |
On January 29 Maine West hosted Maine North. The Warriors had an easy time of it and handled the Norsemen by a score of 111.05 to 74. On January 28 Maine West beat Glenbrook North 103.10 to 96.46. The Warriors now hold a 4-2 conference record with victories over Maine South, Maine North, Glenbrook North, and Niles North. Their two losses have come at the hands of New Trier West and Glenbrook South. Tomorrow Maine West will host Niles West at 1:30 p.m. It will be the last meet of the year for the Warriors. The conference meet for the gymnastics team will be held a week from today. |
