Matmen Fall to Glenbrook South, Grab Second in Conference

The Maine West wrestlers have finished their season in second place behind Glenbrook South who remained undefeated in the Central Suburban Conference.

Against Niles West in a home meet the Warriors fared well beating them closely 27-21. All of the Warriors wins were on decisions as there were no pins.

The next week the Warriors traveled to Glenbrook North and won 24-20. The only pin for the Warriors was by Fred Gano '73, as the other points were given on decisions.

On January 15 the Warriors traveled to Evanston to face another strong wrestling team.

They were defeated by a score of 27-15. Gano again got the only pin for the Warriors.
On January 21 the Warriors went to Glenbrook South to decide who would win the Central Suburban League Conference crown. The Titans, however, out-powered Maine West and will receive the first place trophy when the season is completely over with. The score of the meet was 30-11. The Warriors were shut out by the Titans until the eighth weight

class event when Carl Sjostrand '72 outlasted his opponent for the first of three decisions won by Maine West. The other two decisions were won by Leon Wilkens '72 and Torn Willming '73. Ed Rappy '73 tied his opponent for two more points.

To finish up the season, the Warriors met Maine North and won easily 36-14.

At the Forest View Quadrangular the Warriors finished third behind Forest View and St. Viator. First place finishes were taken by Dave Gano '72 and Wiliming. Second place finishes went to Fred Gano, Rappey, Sjostrand, and Scott Smith '73.
