| Four Maine West students have been selected as Outstanding Teenagers of America for 1972. Mr. Herman Rider, principal, announced that the students selected were Carol Gigante and Steve Dueball, both seniors, accompanied by Cheryl Lynn Kueker and Cynthia Brodie, who are juniors. This selection qualifies them for further state, regional, and national honor and scholarships totaling $7,000. Shirley Frank, Joyce Koepler, Guy Apa, and Steve Mirro, all seniors, are the four Maine West students chosen to venture to Peoria, Illinois, for the annual convention of the Illinois Music Educators Association. |
Initiation into Thespians is coming soon. Prospective members should make sure they have enough points and get their $3 fee paid in the bookstore. The National Honor Society Tea will be held in the cafeteria on March 8 at 3:30 p.m. Steve Kreiling, senior, received the highest individual honor by being nominated to the All State Jazz Band at the thirteenth annual Oak Lawn Jazz Festival. Jim Lauffenburger '74, Doug Merkel '75 and Dale Nickels '74 have been honored by the Math Club as the winners of the second quarter "Problem of the Week" Contest. The boys were honored because of their high accumulation of points in the weekly contests.
