| On Friday, February 18, it was decided that Student Council should be disbanded for one week's time. This decision was made by the Executive Board and the sponsors of Student Council. They felt that it was not accomplishing any worthwhile goal. Freshmen and sophomores were sent to study halls and juniors and seniors were able to attend PAR. Representatives were urged to return to Student Council after it has been reorganized, but it isn't mandatory. Jerry Hynes '72 was elected vice-president of Student Council. The reason for this special election was that Colleen Kelly '72, former vice-president, graduated in January. In a ease such as this, elections are held only within the Council itself. John Fisher '72 was elected chairman of the Public Relations Committee. The require-ment for this office is that one must have one year's experience in Student Council. Several new people were also elected to Upper House from the Junior and Senior Classes. |
Social Committee has announced that the Girl's Choice Dance will be held on Saturday, March 11. The theme of the dance will be "Rainy Daze." As of yet a group has not been chosen to play. The pancake breakfast which was held recently made approximately $200 in profit. This money will be donated to the Des Plaines Day Care Center. Pete Farmer '74 was elected to be the alternate for the Student Advisory Committee, formerly the Central Suburban League. This is a group of representatives from various schools who get together and discuss mutual problems. Maine West's present representative is John Fisher '72. Pete will attend meetings with John this year and then become the representative next year. Another alternate will then be elected. The committee meets approximately once a month. |
