Tankmen Have Best Year Ever, Place Third in State Districts |

| This year the district swimming finals were held at Maine East. The Maine West tankmen placed third behind Evanston and Maine South. They swam to a score of 166 points, and this was the best point effort achieved by the Warrior swimmers this season. The 200-yard medley relay team, consisting of Jeff Cassin '72, Steve Dueball '72, Steve Mamoser '72, and Tom Rasch '73, placed seventh and were only .02 of a second out of sixth place. Dave Dettman '72 Garyt Dahl '72 placed third in the 400-yard free style. Greg Lambrechts '73 swam into ninth place in the 200-yard free style. |
In the 200-yard individual medley Don Hudson '72 placed fourth and Garyt Dahl came in eleventh. Rick Landuyt '73 swam into third place in the 50-yard free style but missed the state finals by .002 of a second. In the 100-yard butterfly Don Hudson and Chip Essig '73 placed ninth and tenth respectively. Larry Bierwirth '73 set a school record of 50.1 in the 100-yard free style. He also qualified for state. Another state qualifier, Steve Dueball, came in third for the 100-yard breaststroke. The 400-yard free style swimmers came in second, and they also qualified for state finals. On the team are Warrior swimmers Rick Landuyt, Greg Lambrechts, Larry Bierwirth, and Dave Dettman. Everyone swam their best time. |
