Holmbeck, Schwab Place in Sectionals, Qualify for State
On March 3 sectionals were held at Addison Trail where Maine West placed sixteenth, but qualified two seniors, Steve Holmbeck and Steve Schwab, for the state finals.

Robin Ruediger '72 placed tenth to give the Warriors their only team point for the side horse event. The only other two points the Warriors picked up at the meet were achieved by Schwab who placed ninth on the free exercise to give the Warriors their total of three points for the meet. The only other person to place was Holmbeck, who placed sixteenth in all-around competition. In the districts on Friday, February 25, the Maine West Warriors finished third out of six teams.
 In the free exercise event the Warriors placed three men in the top 10. Schwab placed second; John Leer '72 took sixth; and Holmbeck finished tenth to give the Warriors 15 team points. In the side horse event Bill Lumpp '73 placed fifth and Ruediger sixth as Maine West totaled up 11 more team points.

On the horizontal bar Holmbeck placed second and Tom Fulham '72 placed seventh. In the trampoline event Leer was the only Warrior to place in the top 10. Leer finished seventh. On the parallel bars Holmbeck placed seventh for the Warriors. Holmbeck and Chuck Martino '72 placed seventh and eighth respectively on the still rings.

The state finals will be held at Prospect on Friday, March 10, and Saturday, March 11.
