Track Team Finishes Fifth In Conference Meet |

| The Maine West indoor track team took second place in the Bloom Triangular track meet which was held at Bloom High School. East Moline took third place behind Maine which took first. Kevin Wright '72 and Chip Barbour '73 got the Warriors off to a good start as they placed second and third in the two mile. Dave Farmer '72 and Curt Henrich '73 finished first and third in the 660-yard run. In the conference meet the Warriors took fifth place out of nine schools which competed in the Central Suburban League Conference. Kevin Wright '72 took first in the mile and second in the two mile events. Wayne Gyssler '72 took first in the pole vault and third in the high jump. Warriors' scoring. Larry Franzen '73 helped out with a fifth in the high hurdles. Barbour also placed fifth in the two mile. Coach Ronald Brown commented that the track team is not that strong this year and is doing what he expected. He further stated that the team has two outstanding athletes Wright and Gyssler, who have done excellent so far this season. On the sophomore level the Warriors have done rather well taking first place in the conference meet. Kevin Skahan '74 took first in the mile event. Greg Klebe '74 took first in the half mile event. Ken Donovan '74 took second place in the two mile event. Paul Frost '74 took third place in the two mile. Ken Heller '74 took third in the high jump event. |
