McGovern Concert To Be Held

The Maine Township Citizens for McGovern is sponsoring the Voter Registration Festival on Sunday, October 1, at Lion's Park in Des Plaines.

The festival, which will begin at 1 p.m., will feature the talents of the Black Youth Heritage Theater, a group of 40 entertainers who sing, dance, and do skits. They have toured the country and have performed with the Free Street Theater in the Chicago area.

According to Dana Griffin, the coordinator for the festival, negotiations are still underway to obtain other performers to appear at the festival. The additions to the program will be announced soon.

Tickets are $3 each and are available at McGovern Headquarters, 1630 Miner Street, Des Plaines, and are also being sold by many students at Maine West.

The purpose of the concert is to publicize the massive voter registration campaign being conducted by McGovern volunteers and also to raise funds for the campaign.
