Letter to the Editor

Do you have a complaint or appraisal you would like known to the entire student body and faculty members? The answer is here!

Write your Letters to the Editor and bring them to room R‑210 or to any staff member. We want to hear from you. Please, however, do not write 100 pages on one subject (we don't have that much room) or we'll have to reserve the right to edit them. All letters must also be signed, but it isn't mandatory that your name be printed.

We also have an Open Column for anyone desiring to express their opinion on a certain subject or tell of a happening they discovered.

Features (go anywhere exciting or heard about something new?) are always welcome. Put your creative minds to some use. And, of course, news events always help. Are you in a club with big activities being planned? Get your publicity started right away in the Westerner.

For anyone interested in writing but can't think of anything to write about, sign up sheets are posted in room R‑210. These sheets make up the format of our issues. Come in and sign up. Who knows, you may have a real talent.

Staff

Dear Editor:
Another school year has gotten under way and that means another year of dramatic productions is also beginning.

Quotes like "I wouldn't waste my money on a high school production," and "They're not worth seeing," will be flying through the halls of Maine West as the productions roll.

Some very professional plays are shown right here in the Maine West auditorium and at a price everyone can afford.

If everyone really knew the work that goes behind each and every production, they wouldn't criticize.

When the public sees the play or show, they see a finished product of hard work and a lot of time spent to make it what it is. Each play is unique in its own way.

Every play cannot appeal to everyone. If people would just realize this, it would make things so much easier.

Don't draw a conclusion on just one play. See several plays put on during the year. It's really not that expensive.

If you get the chance, try to work on some of the plays. It isn't possible to really draw a fair conclusion until you've seen it from the workers' point of view. You appreciate things far more when you're involved with them than when you're just watching.

We hope to see YOU at some of the productions. Come out and support your school's productions. They're some of the best around.
