GRA
Kick‑off Kaper Begins Year

GRA, Girls' Recreation Association, started the school year off right with a great success in the form of the first playnight, Kick‑off Kapers. The theme this year was "A New World Awaits You in GRA."

The GRA board began by showing GRAs views of certain television commercials. Girls then had a choice of playing either volleyball or cageball. Next, swimming was in order. There was free swim and water games, such as underwater hockey, in the pools.

Those girls who did not choose to swim could play either badminton or volleyball. Refreshments topped off the night.

GRA is open to all girls interested in sports. Faculty advisor, Miss Royleen Tipton, stated, "It's great club to be involved with. There's something for everyone."

No skill is needed. Just come prepared to learn and have fun.

All girls at Maine West are automatically members, with no strings attached. There is absolutely no charge for membership or use of equipment.

The officers for the '72‑'73 season have been chosen and are as follows: Denise Bell '73, president; Bonnie Serone '73, vice‑president; Carol Gustafson '73, secretary; and Debbie Maday '74, treasurer.

Miss Tipton has been involved in Maine West’s GRA for four years. She announced that it has been a real success, and she's hoping more and more girls will become interested in coming.

The schedule for the first quarter activities are Archery on Tuesdays and Thursdays in B‑wing, Track and Field on Mondays and Wednesdays on the track, Tennis on Tuesdays on the tennis courts, and Swimming on Mondays in the pool.
