PRINCIPAL ILL
Mr. Herman Rider, principal, has suffered a stroke and is in Lutheran General Hospital. He is allowed no visitors, phone calls, or flowers at this time.
'EVERY BLOOMIN' THING'
Spring fashion will be blossoming in this year's Home Economics Department's fashion show, "Every Bloomin' Thing." The show will be presented at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, in the auditorium. Everyone is invited to this free event.
RAH! RAH! SIS, BOOM, BAH!
Cheerleading tryouts will be held May 7 through 10 for the varsity squad and May 14 through 17 for the sophomore squad. During both weeks clinics will be held on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday; and tryouts will be held on Thursday. The girls will be judged on individual cheers, stunt quality, voice projection, and appearance.
POM PON TIME AGAIN
Tryouts for next year's Pom Pon Squad will be held April 30 through May 4 from 3:30 until 5 p.m. in A‑wing gym. Clinics will be held throughout that week with preliminary tryouts being on Wednesday and final tryouts on Friday of the week. To be considered, girls must have at least a C grade average with no F's.
MUSIC GALORE
Maine West will be bubbling with musical events during the next few weeks. Some coming events include the annual Solo and Ensemble Night on May 3, from 7 until 9 p.m.; and the May Music Festival, which will feature combined bands, orchestras, and choruses, is May 11 in the spectator gym.
