Warrior batters were unable to get untracked in a recent conference game as they were shut out at Niles East, 6‑0, but the following day things went smoothly as the Warriors came home to sweep Waukegan in a doubleheader by the scores of 4‑1 and 8‑5. Niles North will be tonight's opponent in a home game, weather permitting.
In the first game of their doubleheader against the Bulldogs on April 14 the Warriors struck quickly, with Chris Bouchee '73 scoring on a single to cap a two‑run first inning.
Waukegan tried to mount a comeback in their half of the second inning, with their first batter reaching on a double. Starting pitcher Jay Liggett '74 then took control, however, retiring the next three batters to kept he Bulldogs off the scoreboard.
After threatening once again in their half of the third inning, the Bulldogs scored their only run in the fourth to make the score 2‑1. Maine West held that slim lead until their half of the sixth inning.

Bouchee led off the sixth with a long triple to center field and scored on a single by John O'Connor '74 to widen the Warrior lead to 3‑1. O'Connor scored the final run of the game, and Liggett retired the last eight Bulldog batters in gaining the victory.
In the second game that day Maine West again began the scoring in the first inning. With one out and one run in, Bouchee doubled to drive in Roger Blumer '73 and send John O'Connor to third. O'Connor and Bouchee then scored on a single, and the Warriors added another run to make the score 5‑0.
Maine west added another run in the second inning, while the Bulldogs scored a run in the fourth to make the score 6‑1. The Warriors struck for two more runs in their half of the fourth, with a double by Blumer driving in their final run of the game.
Trailing by seven runs in the seventh inning, Waukegan made a valiant attempt at a rally but fell short. They scored four runs in the inning on three singles, a triple, and two more singles to make the final score 8‑5.
