Tennis Team Has Early
First Place Standing

The varsity tennis team has a lot to be happy about, at least if their first five games are any prediction on how the rest of their reason will be. The team has won five games in a row, and morale is high. In a squeaker against Niles East on April 10, the team escaped with a 3‑2 win. In the game John Anderson '73 and Jack Semler '73 won the singles tournament 6‑1 and 6‑2. In the doubles Frank Lux '74 and Steve Niles '74 won 6‑4, 6‑2.

Against Glenbrook North at home the racketmen once more came away from the action with a victory. In this action seniors Steve Wild and John Anderson won the singles with scores of 6‑4, 7‑5, 6‑3, and 6‑1. Joe Thimm '73 won the doubles along with Jack Semler. Their scores were 6‑4 and 6‑1. The Warriors won 4‑1.

The Warriors once again proved their prowess in a quad meet against Wheaton Central, Glenbard West, and Forest View. In the action against Wheaton Central, which took place on home courts, Steve Wild and John Anderson won the singles competition with scores of 6‑4, 6‑1, 6‑0, and 6‑1. The doubles saw Joe Thimm and Jack Semler win 6‑4 and 6‑2. Steve Niles and Doug Meister '74 also won with scores of 6‑3 and 6‑2. The final score was Maine West 4 and Wheaton Central 1.
