Trackmen Close On Happy Note

Impressive . . . speedy quick . . . these are just a few of the adjectives that are in use in an effort to describe the efforts of the amazingly capable and successful 1973 indoor track team whose season recently ended on a happy note.

The reason for the team's happiness is the fact that they had captured a first-place finish on all three levels, a rare occasion indeed. The freshman squad won by the largest margin, 30. The sophomores were victors by 27 and the varsity by 8. There were many fine performances turned in by the team members, but special congratulations are due to junior Bill Klippert. Bill became one of our school's finest high hurdlers as he finished the season with just one defeat in his

competition. He was invited to try his athletic abilities in an All-American track meet but was forced to decline because of his age.

The sophomores also commanded a certain amount of respect from other teams, especially on the mile and 880‑yard relay teams. The teams were composed of Bill Wademan, Rudy Martinez, Scott Unger, Norb Plazjey, Randy Van Vleck, and Art Mraz. This fleet‑footed sextuplet showed a record of 20 and 0 for their efforts at the end of the season, and Head Coach Ronald Brown said that they are among the best sophomores in the state.
